What is Financial Crime Compliance?

Financial Crime (FinCrime) Compliance is making sure your business (if regulated or supervised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) or His Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC)) is compliant with various national and international FinCrime legislation.

In the UK alone, this means understanding, and aligning your policies, procedures, systems and controls, with the following:

  • The Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017 (as amended)

  • Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018

  • Economic Crime Act 2022

  • Fraud Act 2006

  • The Bribery Act 2010

  • Criminal Finances Act 2017

  • Theft Act 1968

  • Proceeds of Crime Act 2002

  • Financial Services and Markets Act 2000

  • Criminal Justice Act 1993

  • Financial Services Act 2012

  • Serious Crime Act 2015

  • Terrorism Act 2000

  • Policing and Crime Act 2017

It's easy to feel overwhelmed by such requirements, and that's where COVENTIUM can help. If you are a small firm without an internal compliance team, or a larger firm who may just need additional support for their compliance staff, contact us to discuss how we can assist you.
